Society Field Trips & Meetings 2010

ROYAL GEOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF CORNWALL

The following talks or lectures (except for October 13th) will take place at
Cornwall Wildlife Trust, at Five Acres, Allet, near Shortlanesend, Truro.
Allet is 3.8 miles from Truro on the B3284 road from Truro to Perranporth and the A30.
both car parking and the building are on the right hand side of the road.
The building is a short distance from the car park. Get directions here

Each talk/lecture will start at 7pm and be held in the meetings room with power point facilities available.
There are facilities for tea/coffee and biscuits available for a small charge.

February 10th

March 3rd The Value of Abandoned Metalliferous Mine Sites-and the Triumph of Nature Over Our Industrial Past
by Adrian Spalding.
April 14th South Terras, Cornwall’s Premier Uranium Mine by Courtenay V Smale.
May 11th Future Mines of Cornwall by Dr.Charlie Moon.
June 9th Members evening where specimens can be brought for identification and swapping or otherwise
binocular microscopes to be available.
July 14th The Great Flat Lode and 3 dimensional model of South Crofty mine by Dr.Keith Russ.
August 25th Mineral Planning by the Cornwall Council by Tim Warne.
September 8th Cornish Mining Landscapes Worldwide by Barry Gamble.
October 13th Prehistoric Geologists by Dr.Caradoc Peters. This lecture will be in the Fal building Tertiary College, truro.
November 10th Techology of Mining and Streaming Tin at Carclaze and Happy Union Stream Workings by Colin Bristow.

* HSE Requirement:- All visitors must wear:- Helmets and reflective tops (the Society have a few available)
boots, preferably steel-toe capped and goggles - No Gear = No Entry
